...As a painter who has worked from nature, including flowers and plants, forms both organic and sensual, Beate Gantz was challenged by this setting that was so different from her environment in the north of Italy. The view from her window at night had the potential for poetic interpretation, which the artist recognized and sought to capture in her gouaches on paper.
